Stay Calm & Row On

Hi Crew,

We know that right now you are being inundated with messages about the "C" word and what to do, and not to do, to stay healthy.  Your health, and the health of our community, is important to us.  For that reason, we write with further updates.

During stressful times, part of ensuring that we take care of ourselves includes prioritizing our mental health.  For us, like many of you, exercise is how we stay calm, manage our stress, and boost our mood.  This is why we intend keep the studio open.  We believe that with the appropriate cautionary measures, we can continue to hold classes in a safe manner.

That being said, we do believe there are some further changes we can make to prioritize the health of our crew during this important time.
  • Until further notice, our towel service will be suspended.  While sweat does not transmit the virus, saliva does and we want to minimize potential exposure to others.  Please bring a small sweat towel with you from home and take that towel home with you to wash with your workout gear.
  • For now, we will not be using the dumbbells, mini-bands or blocks in class, in order to minimize the surfaces that are being touched.
  • Where we have back-to-back classes on the schedule, for example, 5:30 pm and 6:35 pm classes, we will be shortening the first class to 45 minutes to allow for greater spacing between classes.  We hope that this will reduce any congestion in the change rooms and minimize the number of people in the studio at any one time.
  • In a similar vein, we ask that to the extent possible, you keep your change room time quick and efficient.  Where possible, consider showering and changing at home, rather than at the studio.  Of course, our showers remain open for your use with your own towel.
  • Our ergs are already spaced apart at least one meter, so you have ample space between yourself and your neighbour in class.
  • We will continue with our extra sanitizing measures of all studio surfaces, doors, switches, handles etc.
Please ensure that if you are feeling at all unwell, you cancel your class.  Even if you feel as though you could manage the class personally, we want to protect our community against spread of any germs.  Please let us know if you are feeling unwell and we will credit you your cancelled class.  Email us at frontdesk@scullhouse.com to cancel or with any questions.

As we are sure you've heard, washing your hands and refraining from touching your face are the best ways to protect yourself right now.  Please practice these habits both at SCULLHOUSE and throughout your day.  We want you to stay safe!

We will continue to monitor the situation closely as we are aware things are changing very quickly.  If we need to take further precautions, we will do so.

Now that all that is out of the way, remember, stay calm.  Take deep breaths.  Go for a walk in nature and remember that this too, shall pass.

See you on the erg!

Kristin & Liz
