Who's That?

Some of you have met him.  Some of you have heard of him.  Introducing "Lunchtime Lev".

Lev is a new addition to the crew here at SCULLHOUSE taking over the lunchtime Express Row classes.  While Lev may be new to SCULLHOUSE, he is no newbie to fitness having been a group fitness instructor in other top gyms across the city for years.

Lev brings positive energy, encouragement and just a hint of drill sergeant presence (he comes by it honestly, his Dad is military), to his classes.  He promises to have you sweating and smiling by the time class is through!  When he's not teaching fitness classes, you'll find him chilling with his guitar.  Welcome Lev!

Movember & Men's Health

Our neighbours around the corner at Wellth (Church and Richmond) are holding a seminar in honour of men's health.  The seminar, led by in house licensed naturopath Dr. Dominika Zarzeczny, Optimizing Men's Mental Health, is taking place Wednesday November 14th between 6:30 and 8:30 pm.

Registration is by donation and all proceeds go to the Movember foundation. The event link can be found here:

Coaches Corner

As the days get colder and darker, it can be difficult for even the most motivated of us to stick to our fitness goals.  Whether you attend class in the morning, afternoon or evening, a few simple steps can make it easier to stick to your schedule.

  1. Treat your workout like an appointment.  If you schedule your workout into your calendar, you will be less likely to skip it.  Treat it the same way you would any other appointment.  After all, it really is an appointment with yourself when you invest in your overall health.
  2. Get your workout gear organized and ready the day before.  This is especially helpful for those early morning classes.  Pack your things while you're feeling motivated.  When it comes time to head to class, you're all set to go!
  3. Pay attention to your self talk.  Rather than allow yourself to think about the fact that you may feel tired or cold, instead, remind yourself that you'll have more energy and feel better after class.  Think about the end goal and stay focused on your progress.

Happy Monday crew!  Have a great week and we'll see you on the erg soon :)

Cheers,
Kristin and the SCULLHOUSE crew
