Wow - we've missed you. When we closed our doors in March, we never anticipated the ride we were all in for. Thanks in no small part to the generous support of you, our community, through this closure, we are happy to report that we will be re-opening!
While virtual classes are likely here to stay, there is no replacement for the energy and connection of being together and sweating it out IN THE STUDIO. Assuming that Toronto enters Phase 3 on or before August 10th, our plan is to re-open on August 10th. This will of course have to be delayed if we do not enter Phase 3 by that date.
That being said, there will have to be some changes to make sure that we can all share our studio space safely. Here are some of the steps we have taken and will be taking to make sure you are safe when you visit us in the studio:
Our rowing studio uses a separate HVAC system distinct from the rest of the space. The studio fan will be on continuously to ensure fresh air is circulated throughout class;
We have purchased multiple HEPA air purifiers for in the studio;
Classes will be socially distanced (the exact class capacity is still being determined);
We will not be using bands or dumbbells to minimize touch points;
Rowing machines will be thoroughly sanitized between classes;
Change room use is discouraged with a max occupancy of 2 people in the women's change room and 1 person in the men's change room at a time;
All people entering SCULLHOUSE must answer a screening questionnaire and have their temperature taken with our touchless thermometer;
You must sanitize your hands upon entering;
No outdoor shoes will be allowed in the studio;
There will be no towel service (you may bring your own);
Showers will not be accessible initially; and
Masks will be required (we have ordered reusable sport masks that will be available to purchase or we will have disposable masks that will be available for a nominal fee.
Our plan is to begin by taking as many precautions as we can and as the situation improves we can begin to peel these back.
We will be making changes to the schedule to accommodate increased time between classes. Before we finalize this new schedule, we'd like to hear from you! Please help us plan for a successful re-opening by letting us know when you plan to visit and how you feel about visiting our studio this summer. Provide your feedback in our short survey here:
We will be in touch with those of you who are renting ergs from us as we will need to collect many of these back to prepare for our re-opening.
Stay tuned as we will continue to advise you of our re-opening plans as the situation evolves. We will also give you more specific details regarding procedures to follow prior to and during class as we get closer to our targeted re-opening date.
Before we sign-off, we want to acknowledge how amazing our community is. The support we have received from all of you, whether through continued memberships, purchases of virtual classes, or emails and notes of encouragement has been truly appreciated and has made a world of difference as we weather this pandemic. From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!
Looking forward to providing you with more positive updates as we move towards our re-opening.
