It's GREAT to be back!!!

Hey Crew,

Last week marked our first classes post COVID-19, and WOW it was so good to see you all.  We held two classes a day to test the waters (pun intended), and see what sort of response we got from you, our crew, about re-opening and working out in-studio.

Your response has been great.  For many of you, you're just as ready to get rowing as we are.  Of course, everyone's situation is different, and so if you still need a little more time, know we'll welcome you back with open arms whenever that is.

We've had a week to test our procedures and get feedback from you.  Thankfully, things are working well.  We plan to continue doing what we've been doing.  For those without Instagram or Facebook, you may not have seen our latest updates, so we'll set those out for you now:

Pre Check-In
  • Wait outside to be waved in (this ensures social distancing in the foyer)
  • Sanitize hands immediately upon entry
  • Remove outdoor shoes and put on your indoor shoes
  • Temperature check and health questionnaire
  • You're checked in and will be directed to your erg
  • If you need the change room, you may enter (2 at a time in women's, 1 at a time in men's)
  • Lockers are available (every other locker is locked to ensure spacing)
  • Washrooms are available
  • Towels are not available, please bring your own
Post Check-In
  • Proceed directly to your station - your erg/mat
  • Wait on your mat until the instructor removes the "sanitized and ready for use" tag
  • Keep your mask on until your instructor lets you know you can remove it
  • Please keep all bags outside of the erg room, either in a locker or just stashed under the benches
During Class
  • No mask required during class
  • If you'd like to keep your mask on, you are of course free to do so
  • We are selling sport masks for $18.50 that are very lightweight and breathable
  • No bands or weights are being used
After Class
  • Put your mask back on to exit the erg studio
  • Please take your indoor shoes with you (no storage of shoes in the erg studio currently)
  • Take all your personal belongings with you
  • Sanitize hands as you exit
  • Maintain social distancing as you exit
  • Keep the transition snappy (as we add classes, we will be spacing them to ensure no overlap between classes in the foyer.  Please be quick with your transitions to assist with this.)
  • REMEMBER THERE ARE NO SHOWERS CURRENTLY (We know that this will be a bigger issue in the winter and we are crossing our fingers that by then we can open things up even more.)
Ok, so that's a lot of info, we know (and this isn't even the end of the email!).  We'll keep gently reminding you of everything and trust us, before you know it, these new procedures will feel like second nature.

As you know, we do like to be thorough, so a few more answers to questions you may have:
  • What steps have you taken to ensure the safety of everyone in the studio?
    • Our erg studio operates on a separate HVAC system from our foyer or our PT studio.  This means that fresh air is pumped directly into the erg studio.
    • We have 4 HEPA and UV filters running during classes.
    • All ergs and mats are disinfected by us after each class.
    • All touch points are undergoing thorough sanitization after each class.
    • Our room is spaced such that you are more than 2 meters away from your neighbour at all times.
    • Classes are running at limited capacity.
    • No shared equipment is being used.
  • My membership is paused but I want to come back, what do I do?
    • Just let us know via email that you'd like to unpause your account: email us at frontdesk@scullhouse.com and we'll take care of the rest.
  • I want to row so badly, but I don't feel ready to attend class just yet, do you have any suggestions?
    • How about booking a private or semi-private session?  It could be the perfect time to make some technical improvements to your stroke.  Email kristinj@scullhouse.com to book.
  • Will you be adding more classes to the schedule?
    • Absolutely!  We will add as many classes as use demands.  As you show up and fill up classes, we'll add more to the schedule!  In fact this week, we'll have a Saturday and Sunday class again.
  • Will the online rowing classes be continued?
    • Yes!  We heard you loud and clear.  You want those online classes to stay, and they're here to stay.

We did have a few of you respond to our survey about re-opening, (ahem, we mean a very few, ahem).  Come on crew - let us know what you want!  This is your chance to be heard!  You want a 6 am class, let us know!  4 pm more your style, let us know!

We're giving you one more chance to participate in the survey.  Just click on the link here: https://us13.list-manage.com/survey?u=faeefd618ce89fd255aeeab7f&id=fa0ed024bb

Last, but certainly not least, we know Pierre has been on your minds.  We, and Pierre, want you to know he is doing great!  He is currently cancer free and undergoing chemo.  He promises to be back on the erg soon!

Have a great rest of the weekend crew and we can't wait to see you!

Kristin & Liz ❤️
